COMPOSITION:

Chlortetracycline is a broad-spectrum antibiotic from the tetracycline group, effective against both Gram (-) and Gram (+) pathogenic bacteria including Mycoplasma, E.coli, Salmonella, Pasteurella, Haemophilus, Chlamydia etc.

Chlortetracycline inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding reversibly to the 30S ribosomal subunit.This prevents the attachment of aminoacyl-tRNA to the mRNA-ribosome complex, thereby blocking the addition of amino acids to the growing peptide chain. The result is a bacteriostatic effect — stops bacterial growth and replication.
